To Write About PG In The Past Is Surreal: C R Srinivasan

Former Director of Times of India, C R Srinivasan recalls how Pradeep Guha never forgot anyone who touched his life professionally or otherwise

PG lives on in the heart of people whose lives he has touched, be it the powerful owners of The Times Of India group, the senior and junior executives whom he has groomed in the industry or the many stars in the entertainment industry he has mentored. To all, he remains the guiding force, motivator and inspiration.

To me personally, he inspired me with the kindness and helpfulness he exhibited towards everyone he interacted with. Never forgot anyone who touched his life professionally or otherwise.

This persona of his was always conspicuous. When I was heading TOI east (or Chennai, Delhi etc.), he would visit the local office in his capacity as President of the group. He always made it a point to meet with people he had spent time with within his earlier days in Kolkata. Be it the security staff or the senior executives he had groomed, he always had a kind word and ready smile for all.

I as his mentee and friend have tried to imbibe this special quality, apart from many other values. This has stood me in good stead in life and I will be ever grateful.

PG will be greatly missed but will live long in our hearts.

Our heartfelt condolences to Papia didi, Sanket and other family members. Purnima’s and my prayers are with all of you.
