5G Is About Infinite Possibilities: Amit Marwah, Nokia

During the launch of Nokia's MBiT report, Amit Marwah, CMO discusses how the emergence of 5G would impact the current trends

Nokia has recently announced in its annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) report that mobile data traffic in India has risen 3.2 times over the last five years. 

The report also revealed that pan-India mobile data usage per month grew from 4.5 exabytes in 2018 to 14.4 exabytes in 2022.

Nokia’s report includes key takeaways about the evolution of the Indian mobile market, including data on mobile data consumption and growth, the ongoing transition from 4G to 5G as well as the prospects for enterprise adoption of 5G with private networks.     

Further findings point to mobile data consumption increases coinciding with the launch of commercial 5G services in the country in October 2022, as Communication Service Providers (CSPs) deploy 5G networks and expand to newer areas at a fast pace. Together 4G and 5G subscribers now account for almost 100 per cent of the total mobile data traffic in the country.

MBiT 2023 highlights a significant acceleration in enterprise investment. Enterprise spending on Private 5G networks will be driven by new use cases in diverse industry verticals, including manufacturing, utilities, transportation and healthcare among others in India. India’s investment in private wireless networks is expected to reach around USD 250 mn by 2027.

Q. What are the key marketing trends for Telecom Industry?

Key Marketing trends for telecom industry are 5G as a technology, industry 4.O as a new avenue of growth, enterprise looking at enterprise as a verticle and private wireless networks building private networks.

Q. What are the future plans of Nokia?

We are market leaders and we will continue to remain the same, we aspire to grow ourselves more in India. We will continue to do more campaigns and awareness about Nokia. 

Q. How according to you the emergence of 5G will impact the Advertising & Marketing Sector?

Some of the technology that 5G provides like virtual reality, immersive presence and HD content will help Advertising & Marketing sector. It will accelerate the small content creation further because when you have a bigger pipe and a lower latency, then you can build newer content that will be adapted to the new technology. 5G is about infinite possibilities, not only on the content side but also on the used cases side. There will be many more things that will be possible with 5G due to its wireless access. 

Q. How would the rise of 5G in India impact the brands?

5G and beyond will be one of the key enablers of technology like Metaverse. Metaverse is an immersive world and when you are in an immersive world, you need to be virtually part of this world.
