Interconnection Between The Physical & Digital World

It was during the pandemic when we realised how interconnected we all are. It was technology that helped keep the connection intact

With the technological era already here, it becomes integral to focus on the interconnections between the physical world and the digital world. When we look into these connections, we realise how deep they run.

Md. Ashiq, CEO, Netcon Technologies, while speaking at a recent Global Summit said, “2 billion years ago, the planet was inhabitable. There was no oxygen, but to our luck, the cyanobacteria used photosynthesis, and the rest is history. If I talk about myself, I am not an individual, I am an illusion, composed of so many pathogens and bacteria. The speech I am delivering here is not practically just one single individual giving it, rather billions of organisms are doing it together.”

Ashiq spoke about research that he had come across recently which stated how every inbreath is mirrored parallelly with the outbreath of a plant. Likewise, every outbreath of ours is mirrored with every inbreath of a plant, that is how everything is connected.

“Today, if I need to connect with someone, all it takes is 6 handshakes, as proven by research. Research by Facebook states how 6 degrees of separation are being reduced due to technology. You can reach out to the farthest person on the planet with 5.2 handshakes. That is all due to technology,” Ashiq added. He explained how during the covid, we realised how interconnected we all are. It was technology that helped keep the connection intact.

Mahalingam Ramasamy, Managing Director, Netcon Technologies explained that India as the country has leveraged technological connectivity and also brought in revolutionary innovations in the same regard. He added how the country is now emerging as one of the leading technological adapters of the world.

“Today, the technology of the digital connectivity is the only way we can empower the rural population,” Ramasamy said, He spoke about some of the firm’s projects in rural areas and how it empowered the villagers when talking about the technological revolutions. One of them was how the firm was asked to create computer labs in a rural village in Tamil Nadu.

“A connectivity not just helps the people in the urban areas or just people who have smartphones or those with 5G connectivity or 4G connectivity. Connecting rural schools through whatever connectivity medium is available to have enabled students to learn better during covid times,” Ramasamy said.

He stated how digital connectivity empowers communities to serve themselves and hence, this way, technology enables and empowers communities, and they develop. He emphasised how this is the power of connectivity and this is the power of technology.
