Phenomenally Great: Megha Tata On PG

There cannot be another like him, comments Megha Tata, Managing Director- South Asia. Discovery Communications India

Extremely shocked and deeply saddened to know that PG who was widely recognized in the industry just through his name’s initials is no more a part of us. For me, PG stood for Phenomenally Great! I didn’t have the privilege to work with him but had repeatedly read and heard about him and his contributions to transforming the dynamics of the media and entertainment industry. I always thought he was way up there for me to get to speak to him, his aura was like that of a celebrity. Only when I got to work with him after I joined IAA (International Advertising Association) did I understand why people used to say what they did. He didn’t have to speak in a room to make his presence felt but when he did speak, everyone listened. He was a man who could make ordinary people do extraordinary things. He didn’t have to say how big the idea was, but when he led it, everyone knew only he could make it happen and do justice to it in the best possible way. He didn’t have to express how he has helped and supported people in their lives, but to whoever he has supported, he left an indelible mark on them.

I am sure everyone in this industry who had the chance to work with him and knew him can write pages on his achievements as there are so many but the one I have personally witnessed was when he and some of his industry colleagues made one of the biggest industry events the country had ever seen - The IAA World Congress in Kochi in 2019, a resounding success! All that I had heard and read about him, came to life for me. He always led from the front, he always made an impact, he always was there to support his peers and friends- testimony to a true and successful leader. For me, he is one of those colleagues I am thankful for coming into my life because working with him was truly an exceptional experience. There CANNOT be another like him.

Whilst he has made his presence felt in the industry, his absence will be felt even more. He groomed so many individuals to be sound professionals and having him as an industry colleague was one of the most cherished memories of my life. May the memories of the man who put the Indian media on a global map always stay alive among us. May he always shine bright and watch over us as he always did. We have truly lost a doyen of our industry and with him ends an era!

I will always be grateful to you for your support and kindness #restinpeace Pradeep Guha
