Sainsbury's, the UK's second-largest grocery chain, has partnered with online meal ordering and delivery service Just Eat Takeaway to offer speedier home delivery of goods across the country.

Using the Just Eat app, customers will be able to order things from Sainsbury's for delivery in under 30 minutes.  The cooperation will begin with more than 175 stores by the end of February, with a nationwide rollout planned for 2023.

Sainsbury's has its own online delivery service, including the "Chop Chop" service, which arrives in 60 minutes.

Just Eat already has partnerships with Asda, the UK's third largest grocery group, wholesaler Booker, which is owned by market leader Tesco, and fast food chain Greggs.

Sainsbury's announced better-than-expected Christmas sales last week.

According to market analyst NielsenIQ, while online sales increased 2.8 per cent in December, they accounted for 10.4 per cent of the UK grocery market in December, compared to 11.2 per cent in December 2021.
